Royal Caribbean International
The Royal Caribbean International based in Miami, Florida currently ranks as the world's second largest cruise company.
It was first established in 1968 by three Norwegian shipping companies - Anders Wilhelmsen & Company, I.M. Skauge & Company, and Gotaas Larsen. It entered the expanding American cruise market when its first ship Song of Norway made its debut in 1970.
The "Royal Caribbean Cruise Line" as it was originally known, rebranded to its new company name "Royal Caribbean International" in 1997 when it merged with the Greek cruise line Celebrity Cruises. The company also operates under the brand names of Pullmantur, Azamara Club Cruises and TUI Cruises under a joint venture.
The company provides innovative cruising options for vacationers through its unique “Nation of Why Not” philosophy. It's sizable fleet of 38 ships visit more than 400 exciting destinations each year, such as Alaska, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada/England, Caribbean, Dubai/Emirates, Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, Panama Canal, and South America.
The company predicts an increased net yield outlook in the coming year in comparison to the prior year. This will be due in part to its ability to offer premium accommodation options on its Oasis and Solstice class of vessels. As well as its relatively new ship Oasis of the Seas that was introduced in 2009, sister ship Allure of the Seas is scheduled for release in late 2010.
